Building Destruction question.

Postby Dave Gravel » Tue Mar 02, 2010 4:43 pm

In 2.16 the Building Destruction demo generate error, when I try to destroy the building.

My question, if I destroy all beams why the mesh disappear ?
The top part is suposed to drop down but this don't happen, the mesh just disappear.
It is because the destruction feature in newton is not totally finish ?
Or you need to split the mesh in multiple parts for do something like this ?

Thanks.
You search a nice physics solution, if you can read this message you're at the good place

I think you need to split mesh in multiple parts in real time or at loading.

There are two features, one in whch you split the mesh yourself to make a one time exploding body, it only requires the MewtonMesh,
the secund is more complex becauyse it use teh Physics engine collision and teh CompoundCollisionMesh to make a database or debreis
that can be destroyed incramentally, which one are you using?

They both have bugs (unfinish pieces) that I have to fix it some time. I keep posponing it, but after I release 2.17 I will take a look at that, I promise.
At first I never so the crash bug, but I had seenn ot in several occations now.
The problem is the the SDk is is such disarray with Collada and WxWidget, that the bug lost its priority status.

No problem, it's just a question to make me more sure about this new feature behav.
which one are you using?

Currently I just try to remake all newton demos from my engine to see if my new beta is stable,
and show in same time what newton can do.

Thanks.

I suggest to leave the destructions out until they are in a more stable state.
