Tracked vehicle

Postby PJani » Wed Feb 10, 2010 4:51 pm

In samples i saw the tracked vehicle demo, but in my case tracked vehicle in demo doest satisfy my needs. I would like to make tracked vehicle which will really follow ground as it does have torque or regular suspension.

I considered of using rigid segments and hinges for track with few wheels but that is very expensive or i am worng.

Any idea?

Most of tank sims in newton are using body collision contact manipulation to propel objects in contact (like a conveyor belt) - i'm sure someone that did this will explain the method better, i am not very familiar with it.

PJany there are people who do stuff like that in Newton in Google skectyup, but they do for making animation that run at much higher frame rate and the running under control scenario.

Dowing some think like that will consume the entire performance, and will misbehave at one point another.

So if you are doing this for game, my suggestion if the you use clever tricks like eth Tarck Tankl in the SDK, you could make left and right thread out of more than one simple piece so that you get relative motion, and the track could be done with a animation.

I always want to make a demo like that, I will put it the list of my thong to add to the SDK.
Make a more complete tracke tan demo.

I will try to make tank demo. i will see what posibilites i have.
Tomorrow i have discrete math exam. so after tomorrow i will complete real differential joint and then i will start with this. :D
