Realm of War engine

Postby Xpoint » Tue Apr 26, 2005 11:02 am

I'm making a engine called the Realm of War engine, used for my game. (same name  ) But before I'm going to make that game, I'm gonna make some other things first, like newton demos! :D

Here are 2 screenshots of my engine (simple texture loading, lighting and scene management)

And here is a newton demo (very simple, but I just wanted to show something, because newton rulez!)
newton.rar - ~755KB (edit settings.ini for your best settings)

Comments, suggestions, everything welcome! :D

thanks for the comments! I'm busy with GLSL shaders now, and I've to say it's very cool to work with them! After the graphics part is a little better, I'll start working on the newton part.

Btw, does someone know a good GLSL tutorial site? :)

Hmmm! Fine! Very nice demo! It runs even on my PC!:D
And... you make me some hope!
I'm just learning to program my onw engine, too! :P
Do you use DirectX or OpenGL for Rendering? I use DirectX.

I use DX because of the support from Keyboard and Sound and Networks of course!

You can use OpenGL and DirectX at the same time! Using OpenGL for graphics and DirectInput for keyboard and mouse input. I tried Direct3D once, but OpenGL is mutch easier to learn, there are more tutorials on the internet as example.
Do you have any screenshots of your engine?

You can't call it "engine" at that time!
I'm learning to USE DirectX and I'm just rendering som cubes.
The only part you can call engine till now is a class for 2D Works.
At the next step there will be Keyboard Input and Audio Output and then I'll develop a class for 3D work!

Could you tell me some good OpenGL tutorials?

Hehe, I remember once when I was trying to put lighting in my game, I set light wight glLight(...) and was very surprised that it's somewhat triangular and cast no shadows :D - I thought that light in OpenGL is a real light :D
