I'm working on a puzzle-exploration game using Newton for physics.

Nope, it's 2.18. I got some compilation errors with core 300 and decided to stay with 2.18 and focus on other things. Will give it another try soon, though.

I love that kind of game.
The sound is really scary.
The blueish outdoor env looks very interresting.
Also with the yellow sky above it - strange... makes me wanna explore it.
I want the demo!

Two years ago i thought i've become to old to like any game, they all got so boring.
Then i found newton, and with it Penumbra, which blew me away - best game of the last decade - much better than HL2, little better than Minecraft :)
... reminds me to 16Bit aera, when 2D - shooters became boring and adventures began to rock.

Great Work!

Thank you.
Yep, I'm a big Penumbra fan too and even like it better than Amnesia. :)

Cool :)

What i do to make my 'carrying objects around' more predictable and responsive is to 'remove' gravity by adding an additional force which cancels gravity out:
force = pickForce - vector (0.0f, mass * 9.81, 0.0f);
You would loose the nice property that objects hang at lower screen half, but you could get it back by moving the pick targe downwards.

Impressive! Looks more professional than indie rigtht now :)
You don't do this all yourself alone, do you?

Playing a lot of such horror games the last time, i've learned something that is not easy to realize for a mainly technically interested person like me.
First thing i criticize is usually: "Bah - i can't use and manipulate objects like i want - this is static world - boring."
But then there is a game like 'Into the dark'. I liked it very much even without physics and many bugs.
Then i compare it against 'Outlast' - good graphics, perfect player controller, fear, but after playing once i don't want to play again - why?
I think it's because the 'good' games build the story about the player, not just the world. First thing they tell you is WHO you are and WHY you are here, so you feel IN and part of the game.
The 'less good' games throw you in a world without any emotional background. Even if there is story about the world, i feel more like just looking at the game... so there's no real need to come back.
I'm unsure if you need good voices to do this right, but text / images may be enough.

If you're 'mainly technically' person too, it's worth pointing out anyways :)

Thanks for the comment - I appreciate any feedback, especially positive ones.
Well, I do this on my own on my spare time - I have a fulltime job that has nothing to do with programming(unfortunately).
I could probably feel an urge for, and use an artist some time, soon... I guess.
The engine is almost competely usable as it is now ( latest big feature was starting OpenGL port), so lately I was concentrated mostly on modeling and texturing.
I'm not sure if i'm a 'mainly technically' person or not, but I agree with what you said about the games mood and story. I'm thinking about this often and I've built a strategy to accomplish it. I also believe that the sound and music plays very important role for that matter.

I agree, it looks amazing.
you do the art and the programming? that's a rare thing to find in one person.

Yes - there's a lot of talent across very different things.
I'm really excited to see that this can be done by one person. Even more impressing :)
