Howdy, it's about time I showed off some screens from the project which I am lead programmer on. Newton is used for all the world objects for which EVERY object that looks like it should be able to move does :)
We're using custom physics for vehicles though.
Thanks Julio! and Walaber! since I'm using OgreNewt

If you want to keep track of the game add your email to the announcement list at www.kartsim.com
More info can be found at our site and at www.autosimsport.net (pdf mag)
Thanks, Cameron Bonde

Dude, if it weren't for those trees and some minor uv mapping errors i could have sworn those pictures were from real world, the game looks absolutely amazing!

wooooooooow another Kickkkkkkkk aaSSSSSSSSSS
are you using new newton beta? Is your car phyics ray cast?

I asume the first image is prerendered? right?
darm the graphic looks sparkless almost like almost like are prerendered too.
Maybe a screen with a cars in it tosee how they looks like.

I read the online article magazine, so you are working on this project for real company, me impresion was thet you were a student at some school or something related to academia.
But that article suggest that is a company whic they call Machine Simulations. :D

Currently it's 1.53 which actually does a great job for what we're using it for. But soon I'll be switching to v2 as we'll be doing some tricky stuff which 1.53 isn't so good for.

- actually they are all realtime in game. Shots were taken on a laptop 8700 gt 512meg with 8x AA 1440x800 running at about 50 fps.
It runs fine on my crappy ati 9600 64meg laptop though with a few effects turned off :D

"Maybe a screen with a cars in it tosee how they looks like."
- yeah the karts are looking great, but we're saving them for the next press release.

- Yeah that's us :D The company is me (Cameron Bonde) and Zach Griffin with Todd Wasson doing physics. I teach at a games course and Zach was one of my old students.

We are using a raycast solution but it's actually external to newton, so I'm injecting the kart body into newton. The physics are actually very advanced with many contact patches and tyre deformation etc.
There's no particular reason we aren't doing it in Newton, it's just that Todd works in another language and we access it through a dll.

ps Thanks for the official KICKKK AAARRRSSEEE, that's going in the quotes list :D

The newton dll 1.55 is very nice with vehicle and mesh collision...
It fix some problem related to 1.53 .

If you like to test you can find it in this zip.

Just to get the newton.dll and delete my personal dll.

Those image are amazing.
And what you told about that everything that could moves, moves it I think even more surprisng, plus you have good graphic and good fps, this is a amazing optimization work!.
With such a graphic and phisic everywhere it will be frame consuming but is not. Congratulation for such a work!.

K00m or Julio : Why thos dll are not distribuited with the newton sdk?
Has it someting that should be use?

I will try it.
thanks.
