Zeroing Momentum

Postby ProjectileFish » Mon Aug 10, 2009 9:48 pm

Hi all,

I have a setup where a pole spins around in two dimensions on a hinge joint like a windmill. Every now and then a want to stop the spin and reset the hinge joint angle to zero degrees so that the pole remains upright, stationary and balanced.

The problem is that even when I reset the angular position to zero, zero the poleBodies velocity, torque and force, the pole still has the momentum of when it was spinning and thus the pole will spin again and not be stationary.

Long story short, is there a way to zero the momentum of a body?

set the angular velocity to zero. Or add an angual row to aling the joint angle and the angular velocity

Ah, angular velocity is Omega right? Thank you, it works!
