Newton Force Units

Postby Zach Griffin » Tue Oct 21, 2008 12:22 am

I'm trying to work out what units the forces that are applied to newton bodies are in. I am using newton 2.0 alongside components I have written for the engine and tyre model for our racing simulation, with the tyre model calculating the force in Newtons. For example under braking, the tyre generates around 2000Ns (2kN) of force in the longitudinal direction. If I directly apply the tyre forces of around 2000N to the chassis, it is far too big a force. If I apply it in kN it is to small a force. The world units are in meters. I have searched the forums and Wiki but there is nothing mentioned other than applying arbitrary numbers as forces. What units are the forces measured in?

Maybe you have to convert N in Kg-force
