MultiBodyVehicles again.

Postby Dave Gravel » Wed Jun 10, 2009 1:41 am

This demo is only for show something to Julio, but I have choice to place it here to let's people see what the multibody vehicle can do.
It can do a lot more and with very realistic result, this is just a quick test.
The setup in this demo is not perfect but I find the result funny anyway.

Nice now I only have to find that edge Bug.
I know I added code to fix it but there may be a bug still, I am on it.

This is really cool demo,

First I gotta say, this is really awesome!!

I read that this is using the CustomMultiBodyVehicle class that's included in the SDK, is that right?

I've been trying to build a car based on that class (by modding the RayCastCar demo in the SDK), and have it mostly set up.

The thing is that I'm seeing some really unpredictable collision behaviour... where basically the car can't stand on the ground for long but instead suddenly will bounce in the air. I'm trying to pinpoint the cause but so far I've come up blank. Everything else works ok, except my car :(
I can put up a video if someone's interested.

Did you have any such problems? Any ideas where I can look?
Do you happen to have source for your setup? ;)

Btw, I'm on linux, using sdk 2.08.

EDIT: One thing I have noticed is that when I create the chassis collision based on the convex hull of the visual mesh (the monster truck from the sdk), the problem is almost only at the first drop of the car (at application startup). But if I replace it with a simple box the problem is much much worse... And also, it behaves the same on both linux and windows.
