Ragdoll Monkey Bowling
v1.1 release

by Walaber

Some of you may have tried the original tech-demo/mini game release... this is a completely updated / re-written version. it's now a complete game, with Bowling scoring, sound effects, etc.

GAME FEATURES
* Amazing physics courtesy of the Newton Game Dynamics physics SDK (and my DBPro wrapper for it)
* Fully lightmapped level
* Adjustable resolution & color depth
* Sound effects based on actual physics data
* In-game music (you can specify your own directory)
* a few secret characters!

But enough talk, let's get to the media:

unfortunately there seems to be some problem when i try to run it.

the instruction at 0x00000 referenced memory at 0x00000 :)
probably my sister doesn't have some libraried installed correctly or maybe her windows are screwed in some way (she used to have problems with viruses or trojans and i had no time to reinstall her windows for a year or maybe even longer :) ...

there are a few bugs yet.

the biggest one involves when you enter your player name, if you use a capital "m" ("M"), the game will crash. it has been fixed, and there will be an updated version soon (I'm waiting for more feedback before re-releasing).

you must have Direct X 9.0b for the game to run.

it works for me but there is one problem. i use two monitors and the game spans across both. the view is distorted but the game is nice nevertheless! :)

I use two monitors as well, but it stays on the main monitor for me...

I suppose you could disable the 2nd monitor temporarily when playing...

Gremlin - that error happens if you try to run the game in 16-bit color mode. I always use 32-bit color, so I never noticed the problem. I am working on a fix, so the game will run in 16-bit mode as well!

Wow this is really nice. My system is a play vanilla with nothing special and it work fine.
I have lot of fun this morning playing it. I like the wind effect that causes the monkey to miss the aiming.
Very good Walabel and thank for the demo.

VERSION 1.1 RELEASED

I've made some major bug fixes, and some other minor tweaks to the game. a list of all fixes is in the README.txt

if you've already downloaded version 1.0, you can get a patch here:
http://walaber.com/rmb/rmb_v11patch.exe - self extracting archive, approx. 1.78MB

or you can download the full version 1.1 here:

Still cannot get it working... :(
Because the screen opens, but immediately closes. It initializes but there comes no error messages... Is there debug output anywhere in this game? Do I need something special to run this game?

Cheery - No error message at all is a mystery to me...

the biggest requirement is DirectX 9.0b.

other than that... nothing special. just an adequate 3D card.

I don't have a Win2000 machine to test on, so I'm not sure what to do about it...

did the game by any chance produce a text file with a name like "CrashOn_07_18_04" ?? if so, please let me know the contents of that file.

Hm. Where this kind of text file should appear? I tried to run the program but it didn't done that kind of file...
I tested your other demos from your site, there was same problem on them too... :?
It must be the computer compilification what makes it.
Intel pentium 4 2GHz, 500mb ram, club3d radeon 9600xt and 15 inches monitor(there happened a little accident some days ago... ).
I am sure it is something in core but it have to be very hard to find out. because it is before the errortexts can be used, it is critical or before the errorsystem...
One possibility is that it isn't error but feature.

the text file should be in the same directory as the .exe.

if it doesn't even get to the point of making the error file, I'm afraid there's little I can do. one of the drawbacks of using a high-level language is the lask of low-level control

do you have direct X 9.0b, and the latest drivers for your video card? also what version of Windows are you running?
