Here is a quick shot taken with my cellular phone of our realistic driving simulator of Fork Lift Truck.
Realistic in the sense that the tire physics is based on Pacejka approach. All input data (tire and mass properties of the chassis, cab and swing axles (+stiffness) have been characterized in the lab). The whole model was validated with experimental tests with a real FLT.

Dual retro projection on front and back windows.
too bad we cannot hear the sound too.

It is difficult to realize what is going on,
I can see true the tiny window that there is a simulation happening, but I see a real person going in an out of a cabin, is this virtual reality simulation?

ok, I'm uploading a high quality clip of my driving sim.
It is not finished yet but since last week this is a full 360° simulator (4 screens now).

The link takes me to a site showing the name of the file, but not way to click for veiw or download.
Then after 10 to 20 secunds it takes me to another site and not way to see the video. How can I watch it.

I am listing some of the videos so that other aptretice can apreciate the work.

This is the vehicle with the standard version of Newton 1.53

Aprentices can see they joints have some gain when lifting a heavy weight.
But with some adjusment to handle more stiff systems of equations this is the outcome.

I'd like to say that this is not a toy, Blackbird_dream had done lots of reserach for this project and physics simulation is not the objective of the project.
Newton is just just one of the tools and I am very happy he selected it for his reserach.
I have a question, this is a expensive rig you have there, are you funding this project on your own?

You're right.
I work in the French Occupational Health and Safety Institute.
this simulator is one of the outcomes of our research project. My staff's committed it self in this research project for years now. The Objective was to improve stability of FLT. We developped a vehicle model in collaboration with truck manufacturers and 3 tire manufacturer design depts. In paralell we did series of experimental tip-over tests with real trucks.
The vehicle model is currently in the process of reviewing for publication in a scientific journal.
My idea was to implement the model in a "cheap" driving sim. Cheap because I had no real fundings for that. I retrieved an old truck cab. all the interface was made from low-cost game controllers. I just ask my lab designer to adapt the controllers to real wheel, pedals and manual controls. I used 4 beamers (2 of them are very old polaroid proj. I've searched through all the shelves and cupboards in my institute) and 2 pc through a network protocol. 1st hosts newton and 3D program. it runs the calculation realtime and displays front and rear view. it sends cam's and object's coordinates to the second which just updates the scene (side views).
Like you, I am also happy that your engine made this possible. I don't want to make negative advertising towards other engines but I tried ODE before and I faced instability problems due to the force transmission through the rear swing-axle and I had to give up.

yes, but not Oxnewton, despite it is a good component.
the reason is I wished to know how Newton works so I needed to implement it myself in the code.
