Arid Ocean - Marine Life Simulation

Postby Captain Nemo » Sun Aug 06, 2006 12:31 pm

In compliance with the license requirements I want to announce my marine life simulation, available at
http://www.aridocean.com.

It uses Newton for collision detection and movement of the fishes.
For the credits start "Arid Ocean Settings" and goto Help -> About

So you were doing this a along in secrect? :D

Very nice rendering of the underwater scene.
I launched in my machine, but it act like a screen saver which is really nice, but I wish I can move around a bit.
The fish looks really high quality and alive. Very cool.

note:
I hit F1 and I get the help, it says that key w, a, s, d, fo moving and arraos for roations but they do not seem to work. all otehjt key do work.

Julio,

you can run it as a stand-alone application if you prefer. If you press F1 you'll see a list of keyboard shortcuts. You can press 'C' to put the camera into manual mode. And check out the help file, there is some useful information in there.

You have to press 'C' first to get the camera into manual mode.

k00m: It uses DirectX, yes.

As for the collision bug, what graphics card are you using and what framerate do you get? If this happens again, can you send me a screenshot, please?

nice.. glad you also support wide screen (though the options menu has some sort of glitch)

would be nice to have an option to disable sounds but the lighting and motion are top notch.. and it runs well on my system..

What kind of glitch do you mean?

A checkbox to disable the sound is on the first page of the settings dialog.

the top toolbar doesn't fit the window so you end up with slight gap at the edge and the bottom scroll bar being enabled.

would be nice to enable disable sound in the actual screensaver

I just cranked it up to full detail and it crashed (twice). at the same time I also increased the number of dolphins to 2 so I don't know which caused the crash..

This is really nice, is almost like been in the ocean scuba diving. I love the fish animations.
It run very smoth in my system too
2.4 gh pentium.

I was navegation and I reach the edge of the world and everything when sour, I guess I sould not do that but there are any indicators to prevent it.

I have got a number of reports about reaching the end of the world, but I can't reproduce this. There is an invisible collision mesh around the allowed area and Newton should prevent the camera passing through it.
