Crimson Glory test

Postby Mike » Mon Jun 26, 2006 10:45 am

Hey,
I wanted to release a tech demo exclusively here, as a thanks for all the help I got here.
This is Crimson Glory, basically a dogfighting game in 2D. The gameplay concept is just like in Soldat - http://www.soldat.pl . In the future it will be a multiplayer game. Now everything works except the network code.

Here is the link: [link down - PM me if you want it] (Windows version, 9MB).
The game keys are shown after pressing ESC.

The engine is slow right now. There are no optimizations. Especially when you crash there is a lag. This will be fixed later. Now I just want to know if it works. If you have problems or questions post here and I'll sort it out.

Some info about the game: http://www.soldat.pl/crimson/

from the creator of soldat? of course I want to play it! :D Seems very promising (I really loved sopwith camel!). One thing is when I get in the plane and get out again, I can't reenter it.

i played it a bit, but all it had was a single character running around, with a single gun. I could not find the airplane, or any enemies... am I missing something?

The plane is in the water to the left. You get in using F and get out with G.

really nice, here are some suggestions:

add music, that famous WW2 "pom popopom pom - pom popom pom pom" trumpet thing ;)

plane control is hard, it causes especial confusion when turning around, perhaps make it mouse-controlled.

water gets clipped away when camera is too low and you cant see where it is

add dials - artifical horison, altutide, etc.. to hud

add parachutes, and remove jetpack?

add bombs, buildings for bombing...

add sea-to-air missle shooting submarines, tanks...

it reminds me of bomber for mobile phones: http://j2mebomber.sourceforge.net/, which is a good thing, some pics of it:

All will be added if possible:).
The controls are confusing for people that never played Sopwith or Triplane Turmoil. I need more feedback on this issue. Mouse or keyboard controlled?
