Newton Tree Collision Exporter for 3ds Max

Postby nerius » Fri Apr 21, 2006 10:10 am

I made a plug-in for 3dsMax that creates a Newton tree collision from your model and then serializes it to a file.
You can download it (and the source) here.
It should work with 3dmax 6 and later.

The source is a VS2003 project, because I just couldn't get it to compile with VS2005 express.
Installation and other information is in the readme file. If you're having problems compiling it, I doubt I can help because I'm new to making plugins for 3d max.

It's nothing special but I hope it will be useful for someone.

Updated the link. For some magical reason, my.opera decided to move the files to a different location without any notice :?

Thank you greatly for this plugin. I have tried it with 3DStudio MAX 8.

At first it gives me troubles but i have found that i need to flip polygons (faces) in order to work propertly with newton (I am using DX). Just simple
model with about 300 polygons (no intersection).

Does anybody else have expirienced this?

Belfegor.

Also you need to copy Newton.dll into MAX root directory as i remember
(dont have actual readme of the plugin).

I have this strange problem....
I have a track (static), i created a collision using the file and seems to work, but seems to works on the contrary, a dynamic body fall down due the gravity force and go across the static plane but if I apply a upward force bigger than the gravity, the body fly up but stops when collide on the bottom side of the collision/track....

regards

Why cant i view a large texture inside 3ds max? I have tried materials and viewport background? i have version 3ds max 2009. but the picture i attach which is 4899x4899 wide only shows up in max in a very inferior resolution,... i dont understand why this limitation.. the picture was meant as a reference so that i could draw some roads over the image

This is a forum for a PHYSICS engine called Newton. It isn't a 3ds Max forum for requesting help on 3ds max. For information on tutorials/whatever see google.
