oxNewton Component.

Postby Dave Gravel » Mon Apr 03, 2006 6:44 pm

I'm new with Newton I have start to write a component, this component code is based on my old oxODE component.
My component is just compatible with GLScene Delphi.
In the moment no source is show but later when i think it is more ready I open the source to all, same of what I have do with my oxODE component.

Now you can download two basic demos just to read my last news on my web.

Sorry my english.
Thanks all Newton Owners and users to have open some sources on the web.

Dave Gravel.

After have receive a e-mail about why the Solver and the Friction world options is not present on my new demo interface.
Now it is updated and it is present and you can play with the options in live.

Now all objects is totaly integred to GLScene.
If you take a look to the code you can see the reduction.
I have rebuild the car demo to show the difference.
With a better terrain i'm sure it can go very nice.

wow you are remaking quantum leap of this.
I drove the car and it fell really nice
I think the large mug have and inertia value too low, I can se that it vibrate a little and that usually means the inertia is too low and the collision is transferring moor momentum than it should from linear angular, other tan that I had fun driving the car and tail spinning.

You have some experience on using physics engine, you have mange a lot without asking question, very, very impresive. :D

Thanks for your tip.
Yes i have progress quickly I have already a component very similar of this one but I try to do it more clean&clear.
Some ressources too from your demos and from Sascha web help a lot.
Now I working on the Material parts to adding it to my objects with some possible custom users setting and more...

The component start to come very fun to play with it. Exemple to create a demo same the demo you have try I need only 10 min hehe. All options and value is saved directly on the self object. Soon with the material i'm sure it can come very fun to use.

If you take a look in the Unit1.dfm you can see all objects and settings.
With GLScene now I can use the option GLScene1.SaveToFile('scene.gls');
all 3d objects is saved and my newton objects too and my manager.
On this way if I save it on a car crash action I can reload it exactly on the same action instant very useful in a game to load a level with some preset.

Sorry my english.
See ya.

Thanks again.

It is hard to get better of this on a similar terrain the Geometry quality is not very good.
Now it's the time to try to modeling a better terrain I think (:

Wooooow I missed this one before. Awesome
This is only after three days? Not bad for a little free engine.
I am afraid to ask what you will do next?

Are you using custom vehicle joint, or are you making your own car with discrete joints?
Is teh terrain costom collision of collision tree. This is certainly much better than I can ever do myseft.
You really figure out how to use the engine very fast

Damm this is very, very nice. I think that
from now on I shall call you dearth Master K00m, maybe you should write a tutorial on how you did the setup to help the Younger Apprentices.

I would not worried or apology for not speaking, No body speak and write worst English that I. And not one is forced to read your work.

I show a first view and some informations on a pdf.
I try later to do a better manual with all new adding and more information.

My car is a lot based on your Formula 1 on your demo and on the Sascha pascal demo whit some little modifications.

Thanks.

You can drive 4 differente models experimental no material collision in the moment.
Attention: 3meg on slow connection.

Wow this is so simple a it works very nice. All four vehicle feel very different driving, I like the dragster, maybe too much power on the rear wheel, but it is very cool.

I am so impressed with your demos; I think you are one of the very few people using the engine that is also user of other engines and do not complain about, no question no comparison, no non-sense, you simple figure out how to get things working and get them working.

In way I am getting a sense of relief, because I am running out of material explaining other people how to get the car joint, and other features of Newton working. It is almost like it is so difficult that no body understand it, and then you get multiples cars going so much better than even I cannot get. It is very comforting, congratulation.

I am a curios about if you work will be open or close source? If it close source It would be really nice if you post a tutorial on the wiiki about for to set up the car.
There has been some demos showing cars.

It is so awesome, I was driving the pick up trying to climb a stfff hill, and I was burning the tires and sliding back.

Then I hit the number two key (4 wheel drive yeah)
and ba da bin ba da bum,
moreeeee powerrrr
I could climb the hill and it even slide sideway and spin the tires like real trucks do, awesome.

Very thanks all.
The component is open source but I have close some personal parts in a dll. Yes Julio when I out the component, I open a new web page and on this page I can explain a basic method to create vehicle from pure newton.
In the moment I already have a forum but it is more used to show some progress from my component.

Soon I out a version test to see if peoples know my options.
I think it is very easy to use I have try to create it the more easy possible.

Yes I need a better terrain or a track hehe I not have find the time to work on it and I'm not very good with a modeler.
Sure later when the material surface options is added I modeling better stuff to drive on.
