A lot of questions about the Newton Game Dynamics system is concerning the VehicleJoint and all possible adjustments therein.

I have made an application which makes it possible to tune car parameters while driving. You can also save a textfile with your adjusted parameters to use in your own application.

When learning how to use the system use the two car and wheelmodels which is included. The default values for the program is tuned in for the fiero.x Car model and the tire.x Wheel model.

One more fun thing is that you can test drive any model you like. Put your own model in the system and try how it handles!

Very good idea, nice program. The only thing I would change is that spring and damper constants should be changeable during simulation - I mean there should be a way to fast rebuild joint.

I tried to rebuild the spring and damper values inside the program, however, i could not remove and readd tires without a serious Crash, cant find any real error in the wrapper, maybe I am doing something badly wrong in the code (probably) anyway.

Go park the car sideways at a slope Stand still and try to drag the sidesleepcoeficient, then you will see that the car starts to slide sideways, very convincing !

You can remove vehicle completly and the recreate it and set previous matrix.

Yes remove the vehicle joint totally, that is actually how i solved it in the CarLab, If you choose Restart then you can change the spring and damper configuration of the present vehicle, If you choose Reboot CarLab the application will restart from the point where you choose the model for the car and restore the default parameters of the suspension.

But I havent tried removing the Vehiclejoint 'on the fly' ... Hmm. Yes that could be a solution ! 8)

Strange how machine specs seems to have influence on the behaviour of the application, I have tried it on four different machines from 2 Ghz to 3.4 Ghz, and on all of them the CarLab runs smoothly.

One user at the Game Creators claim that the cars just jitters around no matter how he tries to adjust the settings. This is his specs:

Intel Celeron D 2.26ghz
256mb Ram
Win 2000 pro
Intel Graphic 64mb Integrated card (82865g Graphics Controller)
AOpen AX4SG-UN mobo

Is this an effect of the newton system or DarkBasic ? Anyone else who experience bad performance on the system ?

And for BigB the freezing, sounds totally incredible. Why ?? what is your systemspecs ? Have no idea of why the app freezez. ?! :?: :?: :?:

it jittered for me, but if you put the physics fps up more then it works well

My game also jitters on Celeron and run smooth on any other processors. Maybe they have to small cache?

@ kjelle69 : I have no ideia why it freezes,
It loads fine, i choose the .x meshes, then i see the car, i can rotate it, etc, i click on the start button and then, on my ati radeon 9800 se, i have a reboot , on the nvidia fx 5200 that i'm temporarily using, it just freezes.

Are you using vbo's here ?

my system :

amd 2.3 ghz, 512 ram, radeon 9800se/nvidia 5200fx, windows xp

Vbo ? = Very big objects ? I have a world mesh that is rather big, but have shown no problems anywhere else so far. I have tested it on a fx5200 and it worked there !

What can be the source of the error ??!??

Something with the graphics ?
